Lately, I've been working on creating a prototype of Catch my Thrift to display the user interactions when browsing items on the app. While I'm still getting the hang of Quartz Composer, I was able to quickly pick up how to do a rough, interactive mock up using Invision.
As a first step into prototyping, Invision was a great resource because it helped me iterate the product further beyond the realm of static screen flows.
Invision is a simple prototyping tool that allows you to create simple motion interactions and transitions (scrolling, tapping, swiping, etc) that are commonly used on mobile or tablet devices. Invision was a great first step to see my screens in action and helped me see certain areas that needed more fine tuning. By creating "hotspots" that would link to the next screen, I could quickly simulate the movement of the app between taps. However, there were some limitations to the small details that I would've liked more control over.
With Invision under my belt, I'll definitely be spending more time with more complex tools like Quartz Composer and Pixate.
Stay tuned!
